PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi
Income support for farmer families who own cultivable land.
Rs 6,000 a year, paid in three instalments of Rs 2,000 straight to the bank account.
Who can apply
- Farmer families who own cultivable land.
- Not covered: income tax payers, government employees, and pensioners getting Rs 10,000 or more a month.
Documents usually needed
- Aadhaar
- Land records in the family's name
- Bank account linked to Aadhaar
- Mobile number
- e-KYC (OTP or biometric at a CSC centre)
How to apply, step by step
- Keep your Aadhaar, land record (khasra / khatauni or equivalent), bank passbook and the mobile number linked to Aadhaar ready.
- Open pmkisan.gov.in, go to Farmers Corner and choose New Farmer Registration. You can also register through a Common Service Centre (CSC), your village revenue official (patwari / lekhpal) or the agriculture office.
- Enter your state, Aadhaar-linked mobile number and the captcha, then fill in your land and bank details.
- Submit the form. The state government verifies your land record and details. This can take some time.
- After verification, complete e-KYC on the portal (OTP) or at a CSC (biometric). Without e-KYC, instalments may not be released.
- Use "Know Your Status" on the portal to see whether your application and payments are approved.
How payments work
- Rs 6,000 a year is paid in three instalments of Rs 2,000, one every four months.
- The money goes by direct benefit transfer (DBT) to your bank account. The account should be linked to Aadhaar.
- Here "family" generally means husband, wife and minor children, and one family receives the benefit once.
Common reasons a payment is stuck
- e-KYC is not complete
- Bank account is not linked to Aadhaar or is closed
- Name or Aadhaar details do not match the land record or bank record
- Land record is not yet verified by the state
- Wrong IFSC code or account number
